- Yes…rice fields!
We were surprised to see our town’s first Starbucks being built…overlooking the rice fields. When I came to Japan in 1999 we rode the train to Inage kaigan – a 20 minute train ride with one change – to get the Starbucks experience. Then by the time we returned in 2004, they were all over Chiba – only a 10 mintute train ride with no changes. Now we can drive-thru in our own town from 7am to midnight! Unfortunately, Starbucks opened just 2 weeks before we left and I only made it there once … What will happen in our small town before we return next summer?!!
