For the last several years, we have prayed about working more closely with a church planter to start a new church in Japan.
To that end, we have accepted an invitation to join a new MTW team which Craig Coulbourne is putting together to work in Shin-Urayasu on the western side of Tokyo.
Working with [...]
Some of our faithful website followers may have noticed that nothing has happened here in a while… for those interested here is a recap of our HMA over the last few months.
August 2009 William and Isabel started school. What a delight and blessing school has been in the lives of our children!
September 2009 We started [...]
We hear this often from our little Isabel! She really identifies Japan as her home! It’s all she’s really ever known… until now! We drive up and down I-75, to and from various destinations, and as we are nearing ‘home’ Isabel tells us, “I want to go home now,” to which [...]
We spent Labor Day Weekend with dear friends at First Presbyterian Church in Demopolis, Alabama. We went to celebrate a very special birthday, and to share our stories and future plans for ministry in Japan with that great church. We felt so loved when we arrived and were greeted as old friends. We were so [...]

We were surprised to see our town’s first Starbucks being built…overlooking the rice fields. When I came to Japan in 1999 we rode the train to Inage kaigan – a 20 minute train ride with one change – to get the Starbucks experience. Then by the time we returned in 2004, they were all over [...]
Shiori and Yayoi came to say goodbye…so sad!
We finished all our packing and cleaning Thursday evening and moved to Judith’s house for the night. Friday morning we were able to arrive at CCSI in time for morning devotions and enjoyed just hanging out at the school until noon. It was wonderful to have friends coming [...]
Today – one week before we leave Japan- we had CCSI’s 2009 Entrance Ceremony. This is held at the start of the Japanese-track’s new school year to welcome new students into our school. This year we welcomed two first-graders and one fifth-grader into our school’s J-track. We pray that this will be a great year [...]
